This rare antique French silver-plated centerpiece jardiniere by Christofle serves as a historical artifact from the Cercle National des Armees de Terre et de Mer (National Circle of Land and Sea Armies). Produced circa 1892–1893 (serial number 1544491), this vessel was likely commissioned for the officers' club's original location on the Avenue de l'Opera in Paris, prior to its 1928 relocation to Place Saint-Augustin. The oval body is designed in the Louis XV style with fluted sides, acanthus-wrapped scroll feet, and sweeping handles. A central cartouche features the club's finely engraved emblem—a military trophy with a standard, ribbon, and oak branches. The underside bears the Christofle maker's mark and serial number, authenticating its production during the early years of the French Third Republic. Victorian silver, military provenance, officers mess, French history, Belle Epoque, decorative arts, dining centerpiece, holloware, Paris silversmith, 19th century antiques, Rococo revival.
