A monumental late-period landscape titled "Sunbeam in the Mountains" (Солнечный луч в горах) by the master of Armenian painting, Martiros Sarian (1880–1972). Created in 1970, just two years before his death, this work departs from his earlier Fauvist brightness to explore a more dramatic, atmospheric grandeur, depicting divine light breaking through storm clouds over a craggy mountain gorge. The painting is confirmed as authentic by Rouzan Sarian, Director of the Sarian House-Museum, who identifies it as one of the artist's final major works. Signed and dated "Martiros Sarian 1970" in Cyrillic in the upper right corner. The reverse bears the inscription "Landscape W/ Sun Beam" and a highly significant label from Alfred H. Barr, Jr. (Director of Museum Collections), linking the work to the highest tier of 20th-century art history. armenian master, yerevan school, museum authenticated, alfred barr provenance, soviet art, mountain landscape, 1970s vintage, caucasus, investment quality, original oil, ruzan sarian, late period
