An antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, dating to the second half of the 18th century. The saint is shown frontally in a half length representation, wearing episcopal vestments, blessing with his right hand and holding an open Gospel in his left. Behind him, Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary are depicted offering the omophorion. The icon is hand painted in egg tempera over a gesso ground on a gold leaf background, with a Church Slavonic inscription in the upper register.
