A rare 19th century Russian Orthodox four part hand painted icon. Executed in traditional mixed media egg tempera on gesso and levkas ground on wooden panels. The composition comprises four individual icons depicting: the Virgin Mary of Tikhvin, the Mother of God Seeking the Lost, Saint Panteleimon the Healer, and Saint John the Warrior. Each panel is inscribed in Church Slavonic. A fine example of 19th century Russian devotional art, combining multiple venerated subjects in a single, cohesive devotional ensemble.
