An antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting the Baptism of Our Lord Jesus Christ Theophany, dating to the second half of the 19th century. Executed in traditional mixed media egg tempera on a gesso and levkas ground on a wooden panel. The composition presents Christ standing at the center of the Jordan River, with Saint John the Baptist to the left and three angels to the right. Above, the image of a dove symbolizes the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Christ. The title Baptism of the Lord is inscribed in Church Slavonic in the upper register.
