This elegant Art Deco bronze sculpture, titled La Frileuse (or The Shiver), is a known work by the French-Polish sculptor Paul Philippe. The piece depicts a slender nude female figure standing with her arms crossed over her chest in a gesture of cold or modesty, her short bobbed hair reflecting the fashion of the 1920s. The figure is raised on a stepped, variegated red and grey marble plinth and bears the incised signature "P. Philippe" on the bronze self-base, characteristic of the artist's commercial editions produced during the interwar period.
