This antique 18th-century French silver beaker (timbale) is a fine example of provincial craftsmanship from the Généralité of Bayonne. The tapering cylindrical body is raised on a spreading molded foot with an ovolo border and features rich, hand-engraved decoration in the Louis XV style, showcasing panels of wildflowers, diaper work, and strapwork lambrequins. The front bears the ownership initials "M P" flanking a stylized floral pendant. The underside is stamped with the Fermiers Généraux era Crowned "L" recognition mark, identifying the piece as originating from the Bayonne jurisdiction in southwestern France.
