This exceptional Victorian glass and silver pitcher (claret jug) is attributed to the renowned Stourbridge glassmaker Stevens & Williams c. 1895. The bulbous clear crystal body features a "Rock Crystal" style polished intaglio design, deeply engraved with a naturalistic motif of thistles and wildflowers set against vertical optical ribbing. The vessel is fitted with an elaborate, heavy-gauge silver collar, hinged lid, and handle, likely of English or American manufacture (such as Gorham or William Hutton) intended for the luxury market. The silver work displays a dynamic Rococo Revival or Art Nouveau influence, characterized by swirling wave-like scrolls and repoussé foliage, while the interior of the spout and lid retains its original vermeil (gold wash) finish. The piece rests on a polished pontil base with star-cutting, typical of high-quality late 19th-century production. Stourbridge glass, art nouveau, antique silver, wine ewer, floral engraving, holloware, English crystal, luxury dining, collector piece.
